My first trip to my new gym was to try out a Body Flow class. I made a date with my friend, Melissa to meet there. I ran on Saturday so I knew I would be sore on Sunday. I was looking for a yoga class at the gym to try, but I wanted it to be in the morning so I could get stuff done the rest of the day. The only option was Body Flow.
Body Flow is a Les Miles class (he does Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Attack, pretty much Body anything is his) that incorporates Tai Chi, Pilates and Yoga into one hour long class. After reading about the class online I knew it was something I needed to try. And it wouldn’t scare me away from group fitness classes like spin may.
I’m one of those people who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. I’m always laughing at myself and this class was no exception. It started out with tai chi moves, like pushing an imaginary ball around with my arms. That made me chuckle a lil bit, but when we got to the yoga moves that involved balance it was all over. I have the worst balance, I’m not sure how I even walk without falling over. I was laughing at myself the entire time and trying not too laugh hard to bother the other people in the class. I’m really looked forward to seeing improvements in my balance and I definitely plan to do this once a week. I left feeling energized, refreshed and strong. It really is the perfect way to start a Sunday morning.
So some more info on Body Flow, every class incorporates the following moves:
- Tai Chi Warmup
- Sun Salutations
